After layup, an individual should start working on the shooting practice. For shooting practice, one must use T shape to hold the ball where your left hand is your support and with right hand you have to shoot the ball with a flick. Start with near to the basket and then increase your range. Below picture will help an individual to understand better for holding the ball while shooting.
Everything negative — pressure, challenges — are all an                                                  opportunity for me to rise.

A player must start with layup practice. They can work on layups with both hands. First a beginner should start practicing with right hand and then left hand. Moreover he/she can also practice board layups and finger roll. A finger roll layup is basically done without using the board and basically releasing the ball on the ring. This would help in your layups practice.

“The goal is to make practice more difficult, physically/mentally, than anything your players will face during a game”

Lets know the major basketball rules before starting the game :

1. Dribbling : A player can not carry the ball and run. He/ She must dribble and move towards the basket. Once the you hold the ball , then you must pass to your teammates or you can shoot the ball. Moreover, you can take 1 1/2 steps to make a layup. If a player takes more steps then it is called as a violation.

2. Scoring : If a player shoots from field goal i.e inside the 3 pointer line then 2 points are awarded whereas if he/she shoots from the outside 3 point arc then 3 points are given. Additionally 1 point is given to a free throw.

3. Back court violation: If a player has crossed the half court once during offence then he or she can't take the ball again back to their court.

4. Time violation: There are different time violation rules - 24 sec : A team has 24 seconds to score in opponent basket. 8 sec: Ball should cross the half court for offence before 8 sec. 5 sec: During inbound the passer must pass the ball in 5 sec from outside. 3 sec: During offence you cannot stand for 3 sec inside the restricted area.

5. Personal Fouls : There are many personal fouls like charging, blocking, hand tap, reaching, goal tending, pushing etc. All this foul can lead to a violation and give your opportunity a chance to shoot for a free throw.
